Dr. Alisa Hicklin Fryar is a professor of political science at the University of Oklahoma. In her research, she draws on the literature in public administration and public policy to investigate the roles of accountability pressures, state governance, institutional leadership, and organizational dynamics in shaping student success and equity in outcomes. Dr. Fryar earned her undergraduate degree in political science from Lamar University, a public regional university in Southeast Texas, and her Ph.D. in political science from Texas A&M University.
My interest in higher education started when I was a student at a regional college and wanted to learn more about how to support our students, but almost everything I could find was focused on institutions that experience a very different reality than the one I saw. I hope that our work can fill that gap for others and offer new resources for those interested in supporting regional colleges.
